2. The Latin word for the polar bear is “Ursus maritimus”. This translates as, Ursus meaning “bear” and maritimus meaning “of the sea, maritime”.

11. Sadly polar bears were one of the first species to become threatened by climate change, and they are expected to decline by 30% by the year 2050.
